Special Tour of the Seamen’s Bethel and Historic District on AHA! May 10, 2012
Join preservation architect Joe Booth, from JMBA+Architects, on an Architect’s tour through the landmark Seamen’s Bethel, well-known as being oft-visited by Whalers and was made famous in Herman Melville’s Moby Dick. Joe Booth, a New Bedford Architect for over 30 years, has been working to restore the structure and maintain the history of this more than 175-year-old church. 5pm
Waterfront Historic Area League presents an Architectural Preservation Trolley Tour. Join WHALE for a fun ride around historic New Bedford to see magnificent architecture and amazing preservation projects. This one-hour tour leaves from the National Park Visitor Center (33 William Street) at 6pm. Seating is limited, first come first served. Co-sponsored by WHALE and the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park.
